Dr. González is an Integrative and Functional Medicine physician professionally born out of the necessity to optimize patient care. A graduate of the University of Arizona College of Medicine, he served in both the Air Force and the Army with multiple overseas deployments, including a year-long tour in Iraq as Chief of the busiest trauma center at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Known as one of our U. S. Military’s leading emergency medicine and trauma physicians, he taught medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he earned Teacher of the Year in 2003. In 2007 Dr. González retired after 24 years of Active Duty Service, receiving multiple citations including the Air Medal and the Bronze Star. Recognizing the need for emphasis on disease prevention rather than waiting for a disease to occur, he founded the Atlantis Medical Wellness Center, where he has developed and honed a functional medicine practice based on a systems biology approach in optimizing an individual’s health.
